Egypt is renowned for the Great Pyramids of Giza, beautiful beaches on both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, ancient monuments scattered all over the country, and its rich culture. Planning a trip to Egypt can be intimidating as you may be unsure as to which places to visit first. Here is a bucket list of all the beautiful things to see in Egypt.

Egypt

Great Pyramids of Giza

The three pyramids of Giza are the tombs of Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus and one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world that still exist. These pyramids are guarded by the fierce Sphinx that tourists took pictures kissing for years. You will stand in awe watching these huge monuments and wondering how they were built, a mystery yet to be solved. When we think of Egypt, the pyramids are the first thing that comes to mind and that’s why they should be the first thing on your bucket list.

Nile Cruises

The Nile river runs through Egypt and over the centuries life has gathered around it. If you want to go to Cairo, Luxor, or Aswan, you will find the Nile and its magic. There are countless cruises along the river Nile and they feel different in each city as you see awesome things on both banks of the river. The cruises in Luxor and Aswan will make you see the temples while enjoying the sunrise and sunset. Felucca is a small wooden boat that locals use to cruise the Nile and it’s a serene experience to partake in.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar

Khan El Khalili Bazaar is an open-air marketplace that dates back to the 14th century. It has Islamic architecture and it’s still a marketplace to this day. A stroll through Khan El Khalili will be a treat to all your senses as you will smell Arabic perfumes, hear the crowd chanting, watch the beautiful buildings, and feel the trinkets the shops offer. Haggle while shopping there and you will find great prices.

Luxor

Luxor has been the main attraction for tourists thanks to the wide range of temples and tombs scattered around it. Luxor is built in the place of Thebes, the ancient city of the New Kingdom pharaohs. You will not run out of places to visit as Egypt guided tours show you the Valley of Kings, Valley of Queens, Karnak Temple, and Temple of Hatshepsut among other attractions. Luxor is considered an open-air museum as you will find temples, obelisks, and other ancient monuments wherever you go.

Red Sea Diving

What’s under the surface of the Red Sea is as awe-inspiring as the pyramids and tombs. Scuba drivers from all over the world flock to the Red Sea for its colorful and rich corals. The marine life is not any less fascinating as you can watch dolphins, sharks, turtles, and stingrays swimming peacefully right beside you. Ras Mohammed National Park is the most famous diving spot, but you can still find other amazing spots in Hurghada and Marsa Alam.

Hurghada

If you’re not into diving, yet you enjoy calm beaches with amazing sand, Hurghada is the place to go. Red Sea beaches are perfect all year long, especially in winter, as the weather isn’t too cold to jump into the water. Hurghada is the biggest city on the west bank of the Red Sea with various amazing beaches. The nightlife in Hurghada is great and there are nightclubs operating every day of the week. You can go on a safari or participate in various water sports so that you won’t feel bored for a single moment. As an added bonus, Luxor is only 3 hours away from Hurghada so you can visit the two cities in one trip.

Siwa Oasis

Siwa Oasis is located in the far east of Egypt near the Libyan borders. The water of the salt lake is said to have healing properties, and it attracts thousands of tourists each year. A fortified walled town is built in the middle of the oasis using mud brick and rock salt. The starry night will make you feel like you are in a dream.

These places deserve a spot on your bucket list of things to see in Egypt as they offer different experiences you can’t find anywhere else. Egypt has a lot yet to offer and one trip is never enough to explore this magical country. Just make sure you bring – and use – your sunscreen, and remember to stay hydrated.
