Give Wear Love Launches British-Made Fashion Praxis; Ethically Sourced, Organic and Sustainable Womenswear
Give Wear Love, a destination for sustainable and ethical slow fashion, is pleased to announce the addition of new label Fashion Praxis to its online store.
British-made Fashion Praxis is now live on Give Wear Love with an exclusive capsule collection of womenswear made from ethically sourced, organic and sustainable fabrics, all of which are organic and all but one are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified.
Fashion Praxis is the creation of British designer-maker Jamilla Ives, who creates high quality, long lasting and ethically-produced womenswear in the South West. Fashion Praxis confines its production scale in order to limit its environmental impact, control its production processes and create carefully-considered, beautiful clothing.
The use of GOTS-certified fabrics means the brand is able to guarantee the clothing is made from natural fibres (such as cotton, linen, and silk) which are produced without the use of unsafe chemicals in both the fibre processing and during the textile-finishing process. Cotton farming has huge environmental and social risks: although grown on only 2.5% of the world’s agricultural land, non-organic cotton consumes 16% of the insecticides and 6.8% of all herbicides used worldwide. GOTS is the first global seal that takes into consideration both ecological criteria and social standards throughout the entire supply chain. It also chimes with Give Wear Love’s charity partner, The Environmental Justice Foundation: which customers can donate to when making a purchase.
The new collection, exclusive to Give Wear Love, features functional, minimalist shapes, designed to be fit for purpose, yet flattering and feminine. The product range is a contemporary take on traditional workwear and utility clothing: this small capsule collection forms a modern uniform, which is both comfortable yet fashionable, and suitable for the demands of busy lives. Beginning with simple dresses and dungarees, a neutral colour palette works well with existing items in a contemporary wardrobe.
“We’re so pleased to be working with Jamilla,” commented Amelia Twine, Give Wear Love’s Director. “The demand for ethically-produced clothing is ever increasing and Jamilla’s combination of organic fabrics and beautiful garments will appeal to many women looking to make more sustainable fashion choices.”
“I am really excited to launch this capsule range on Give Wear Love,” added Ives. “We will never be a mass-market, fast-fashion brand, and Give Wear Love shares our ethos and beliefs. All our garments are produced with either deadstock (factory surplus) or ethically-sourced, organic and sustainable fabrics, and we hope to create a collection using deadstock for Give Wear Love in the future.”
Twine is calling for more designers like Ives to join Give Wear Love. She explained, “We are on the hunt for clothing designers like Jamilla who create new garments out of vintage and upcycled fabrics. This is fashion that closes the loop, and we’d love to hear from any designers and makers who fit the bill.”
