After the stress of planning a wedding, your honeymoon is the perfect time to get some much-needed relaxation and recovery time, while also celebrating your new status as a newlywed. But while planning for your honeymoon is easier than organising a wedding, it’s still recommended to follow a checklist, so you manage to pack everything without fail. We’ve rounded up some of the must-have items to take on your honeymoon, so you can make sure your time away goes off without a hitch!

Comfortable clothing

For a week or two of total relaxation, you need comfortable clothing. Whether it’s an outfit to relax in your hotel or something to wear to meander around your local area, packing comfy clothes will mean you can truly leave the world behind and enjoy some much-needed R&R. Make sure to also pack some matching underwear and take your favourite lingerie sets with you to truly enjoy your honeymoon in style.

Paperwork

Honeymoon or not, holidays always come with paperwork. And even if you’re honeymooning in the UK, you still need to remember to pack some essential documents. Don’t forget to take the following papers with you:

Passport or ID
Travel insurance details
Booking confirmation for your travel and
accommodation
Correct currency for your holiday
destination
A list of emergency contacts
Essential bank cards
VISA (if required!)

Toiletries

It might be difficult to stick to your at-home toiletry routine but remembering to pack your best basics will help you freshen up while you’re away and help you stay feeling your best. It’s best not to gamble and pick up your toiletries at the airport or even see if they’ll be available in your destination country… you don’t want to be wasting time tracking down a super specific conditioner for your hair! Struggling for extra space? Reach out to your accommodation beforehand and check what’s included in your room. You might be surprised to learn that they’ll already have the majority waiting for you!

If in doubt, stick to the following toiletry list:

Toothbrush/toothpaste
Face wash
Moisturiser
Make-up remover
Shampoo and
conditioner
Shower gel or soap
Hair products (if you’re
honeymooning in a hot country don’t forget your hair mask to
keep your hair healthy in the sun)
Deodorant
Makeup
Razors and shaving gel
Hairbrush or comb
Lip balm (bonus if it has
SPF in it!)
SPF and After sun

Additional extras

Sometimes it’s the extra bits you end up forgetting… It’s easy to remember clothes, toiletries and travel documents, but you should also make sure to pack important additional items like medicines (mainly for travel sickness, indigestion, diarrhoea, as well as antihistamines), insect repellent and bite relief, and a bum bag or money wallet to carry your valuables under your clothes on day trips.

Your honeymoon is one of the most exciting things to look forward to in your wedding planning. By following the above checklists, you can ensure you won’t forget a single item and can instead focus on enjoying the next step in married life!
